If I Wear Out My Body Where Am I Going To Live?
Dec 02, 2019
Have you ever thought about the wear and tear your body goes through on a daily basis? To me, being a chiropractic practitioner, this is an interesting thought. Like many of you, nearly every day my body experiences varying degrees of stress and strain, over and above the normal forces that our body must deal with, like gravity, for example. Even if you sit at a desk all day, there are still stresses and forces at work on a continual basis that our bodies must react to and withstand in order for our bodies to function.
We here at Arvada Sport and Spine Group see a variety of cases, and all of these will have one or several causes that may “gang up” on a particular body part to the point where it becomes injured. If these particular conditions go untreated for very long, “parts” start to break down and undergo an ugly process called “degeneration”, where cartilage breaks down, and tissues undergo permanent change. This all results in loss of normal function, meaning that it is more and more difficult to move properly and with full range of motion, or it’s harder to stand properly. The longer the condition persists, then the harder it is to regain the normal function of the part involved.
It is very important that when problems arise in our body, no matter what the cause, that we address these conditions sooner than later. I tell my patients that if a pain is not getting better within 1-2 weeks of the time it starts it should be looked at. I encourage them to come in so that we can regain normal function as soon as possible.
It’s best not to put up with chronic pain if it can be helped. The early return to normal function can help us reduce the normal wear and tear that our body goes through on a daily basis.
