Scoliosis
November 01, 2022Scoliosis is defined as the sideways, also called coronal, curvature of the spine. The diagnosis of scoliosis begins at a curvature measurement of 10 degrees or greater. It is most commonly diagnosed in childhood and can worsen as children grow. Approximately 80 percent of scoliosis cases are considered idiopathic- meaning there is no known cause. While both girls and boys can be diagnosed with scoliosis, it is more common for girls to have a curve that worsens over time. Doctors often use x-rays to monitor the progression of the curve. Back Pain During Pregnancy
February 07, 2022Having low back pain during pregnancy is very common- and it’s no wonder why- the body has so many changes that happen quite quickly. During pregnancy, a woman’s uterus expands for the growing baby causing an increase in weight and a change in their center of gravity. When more weight is located near the abdomen, this leads to posture changes. Due to the change in center of gravity, many pregnant women compensate by arching their back more, causing increased pressure and strain on the muscles, ligaments, and joints of the low back.

Morning Backaches: Is It My Bed?
December 07, 2020If you are one of those people who wake up every morning with back pain and stiffness that wasn’t present when you went to bed…..you are definitely not alone. This is a subject that has been researched by chiropractors, physical therapists, occupational therapists as well as other physical medicine specialists for years. If we are waking up in the morning tired and with a sore back, this could be a sign that (a) we are not sleeping on a mattress suitable for our body type, (b) we are not sleeping in a good “neutral” position for our spine and neck, or (c) there could be a mechanical issue in the back that has developed which needs some attention by a healthcare provider.

High Level Class IV Laser Successfully Used to Treat Meniscus Pain
June 15, 2020Dr Welling suggested I use the Class IV Laser on the knee just to “see what would happen.” I used the Laser every-other-day for two weeks and then once per week for an additional 2-3 weeks. In addition to the laser treatments, I took a product called CollaGen, by Ortho Molecular, which aided my body’s process of cartilage, ligament and fascia repair. I could tell after the first few treatments that my knee was feeling much better.

The Science of PAIN
